Living a Dream
Part of my creative process involves collecting experiences, emotions, feelings and nostalgia for people and places I can later draw from when I create. Sometimes I can do this from home, interacting with my family and friends, watching films, reading books, but I feel truly fortunate when I can go somewhere and immerse myself in a fantasy.
I imagine a dream scenario; I think about the kind of experience I want to have, then I find it. I am careful to choose where I stay, because how my surroundings make me feel is important. I plan activities like antique shopping at flea markets because prop sourcing is a never ending source of joy.
When my journey comes to an end, I return to reality with several suitcases full of antiques, often garden and interior design inspiration, always an appreciation for a new way to eat breakfast – because every culture has their own special way, new friends, but best of all memories that will fuel my creative process for a lifetime.
